Some 6t our most promising agricultural crops have come to us from foreign countries. Through the work of the U. S. Department of Agriculture in studying the foreign crops in their native surroundings, it has been possible to establish in this country such plants as the soybean, lespedeza, durum wheat, Acala Cotton, the Washington navel oranges, Sudan grass and several other forage grasses. Plant explorers have found that these plants in foreign lands, introduced them into this country and thus have started the development of some profitable crops for the farmers of this nation.

The continuation of this work is bound to result in further benefits for. our agricultural industry. The checking of all cotton and rented acreages contracted to the Secretary of Agriculture by 56,000 Louisiana farmers is now under way, and the job will be completed as soon as it is humanly possible, says J.
