She was bom April 3, 1909 in Gueydan. She was a lifelong resident of Gueydan. Survivors include; one sister, Lesida Lavergne of Gueydan; one nephew, Ronnie Lege of Gueydan; six nieces, Mrs. Leo (Laura) Breaux, Mrs. Calvin (Thclma) Clement, Mrs.

Leon (Helen) Clement, Mrs. Earl (Hilda) Richard, Mrs. Jimmy (Dolores) LeMaire. all of Morse; and Mrs. Billy (Bertha) Istrc of Gueydan.

Burial was in the Gueydan Cemetery. Matthews and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Carl Hoffpauir Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 15, at First United Methodist Church for Carl Hoffpauir, 86. Mr.

Hoffpauir died April 14 at 12:35 a.m. at Crowley American Legion Hospital. Burial was in the Gueydan Cemetery. Rev. mm Youth indicted for murder ST.

MARTINVILLE The St. Martin Parish Grand Jury has indicted Clarence Edmond, 16, of Breaux Bridge on a first degree murder charge in the Feb. 7 killing of Shelby James LcBlanc, 26. The youth will be tried as an adult. Edmond is accused of shooting LcBlanc in what is thought to have been a drug-related incident The victim was found each of Breaux Bridge behind bis pickup truck's steering wheel by a sheriffs deputy.

Jury workers get pay hike ST. MARTINVILLE The St Martin Parish Police Jury recently approved a five percent pay increase for all of its employees. Parish Manager Jerry Durand will get the biggest pay hike, jumping his annual salary $2,400 to $50,412 per year. At the opposite end of the pay scale, a labor utility worker will see his hourly pay go from $5.58 to $5.86, or approximately $582 per year. Board supports teacher pay 'overhaul' VHJJE PLATTE The Evangeline Parish School Board unanimously voted to support a resolution originally adopted by the Acadia Parish School Board calling for "real reform and improvement in our public education system." The resolution calls on Gov.

Mike Foster and the Louisiana Legislature to "overhaul" the present teacher pay system and bring state teachers' salaries on a level competitive with the Southern region. Johnny Preston and Hank Williams, Sr. Students of the year named CROWLEY A brother and sister were among three students recognized as Acadia Parish students of the year at the recent Acadia Parish School Board meeting. Brother and sister, Edward Moody III and Jacklyn Kristine Moody, was named 12th and 8th grade students, respectively. Named as fifth grade student was Aleigha Evan Traban. Each student was required to submit a portfolio consisting of not more than 25 pages.

The "Plaids," after much work and many performances at proms, supermarket openings, and bar mitz-vahs, finally land their first big gig at the Airport Hilton Cocktail Bar on February 4, 1964. En route to pick up their custom made plaid tuxedos, they are slammed broadside by a school bus filled with eager teens on their way to witness the Beatles make their U.S. television debut on the Ed Sullivan Show. The "Plaids" are killed instantly.

It is at the moment when their careers and lives end that the story of Torever Plaid" begins. Drawing Freehand Drawing I will be taught at Louisiana Technical College, Gulf Area Campus. Students will receive training in the basics of design and drawing. Materials needed will include: graphite pencil, ink, vine charcoal, and compressed charcoal. Classes will meet from 6 p.m.

and 3:45 p.m. Monday through Friday. Idele Touchet Broussard Funeral services for Idele Touchet Broussard, 87, were held at 2 p.m. April 10, at Vincent Funeral Home with Father Grady Estilette officiating. Mrs.

Broussard died April 9, at Abbeville General Hospital. Survivors include; a son, Gus Clotio of Dayton, Texas; two daughters, Audrey Duhon of Cleveland, Texas and Priscilla Marccaux of Abbeville; a brother, Lesin Touchet of Gueydan; a sister, Zclia Richard, of Gueydan; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Hampton, Sidney, Edwin, Ambrose and Mouffit Touchet; three sisters, Alicia Dugan, Alta Touchet and Hazel Cormier, a son, Richard Broussard; a granddaughter, Deana Rae Duhon, and a grandson, Kevin Lane Clotio. Burial was in the Gueydan Cemetery. Vincent Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

James R. Schaub and Rev. Herbert May were co-celebrants at the last rites. Bom November 14, 1909, Mr. Hoffpauir was a native of T- Mamou and a resident of Gueydan.

He was a retired farmer and cattleman. He was a member of the Louisiana Cattlemen Association and the Farm Bureau. Survivors include his wife, the former Allie Gaspard of Gueydan; a son, Carl Darrell Hoffpauir of Gueydan; two daughters, Mrs. Ronnie (Beverly) Lougon of Gueydan and Mrs. Jody (Mary Ann) Simon of Gueydan; three brothers, Winfred Hoffpauir and Warren Hoffpauir, both of Gueydan, and Richard Hoffpauir of Sulphur, two sisters, Mrs.

Jimmy (Sylvia) Hoffpauir and Mildred Hoffpauir, both of New and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Doris Ault, Lois Hoffpauir and Mable Neville.
